CSB Road to Nationals // why?

Christ School Bundibugyo lies in the far reaches of Western Uganda, just a few miles from the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. Our boys and girls football (soccer) teams have qualified for the Regional Tournament for Western Uganda. They have played their hearts out on the field, worked so very hard, and won the District Championship! They’re ready to go to Regionals, enroute to the National Championship! BUT…we don’t have any money to send them!

All the funds we have are for the operational budget of the school – to help pay our staff and provide food for our students, along with all the other costs of running a boarding school day to day. We do not have any extra funding for sports beyond local competitions. Yet we have an enormous opportunity before us! We would LOVE to be able to send our teams to Regionals.

As a community which is often looked down upon as remote and removed, backwards and challenged, we want to go and compete. We want to allow our students to show that they are competitive, strong-willed, and solid; and even more so, we want them to believe that about themselves. When they have the opportunity to compete at this level and travel to other places in the country, their thoughts about themselves change – they see and experience how their hard work pays off in tangible ways, how their efforts impact where they’re going. And in a place where there’s little space or freedom to dream, where our students aren’t necessarily taught that their hard work directly affects what will come, where hope is hard to come by… this opportunity suddenly becomes bigger than football. It whispers hope to their souls. It teaches them to dream, to cultivate ambition, and to dedicate themselves to their goals.

We need $10,000 to get the boys and girls to nationals.

They will compete at Regionals in nearby Fort Portal first. Then, once they qualify (and we hope they WIN the Regional Tourney!), they’ll prepare for Nationals in Hoima (boys) and Masindi (girls). Will you help us make that happen?! Every dollar counts. Every single gift, big or small. It is a life-changing opportunity for these students, to represent their school and community at this level of play. We hope you’ll partner with us for hope and change on behalf of these teams! To give, go here {https://www.serge.org/give/enter-a-desig/} and use designation number 12510.
